Emphasizes on integration of UG, PG subjects with Higher Secondary level

JAMMU, MARCH 23 (KNO) : Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism and Culture, Priya Sethi today emphasized on the integration of subjects offered in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) with Higher Secondary level.

The Minister said this while chairing the preliminary meeting of the Task Force - constituted for streamlining the functioning and improving academic standards of Government Schools of J&K - to analyze the current demands and future prospects of new subjects. She stressed the integration of subjects shall be done by co-relating and introducing concerned subject matter at various levels with special focus on schools located nearby Colleges and Universities to prepare groundwork for the students to have a better understanding of the subjects they aspire to choose as a career . he Minister exhorted upon the members to conduct a study to take into account the vital factors before making recommendations with regard to integration and introduction of new subjects so that the government can make headways towards fulfilling their objective i.e to pave a solid foundation for the students at school level that will ultimately results in guiding them towards a bright future. She further asked the members to take recommendations and suggestions from various stakeholders and come up with new and innovative ideas to design a link with subjects at higher and lower level .

The Minister asked the concerned functionaries to take key initiatives and monitor the implementation of directions to drive further planning and provisioning. Priya Sethi stressed on assessing the role of district and school administration besides fixing their responsibilities and further said that the Education Department has a major role to play by setting standards to achieve comprehensive development in educational sector in the state.

She further asked the concerned officers to take necessary measure to streamline the educational setup in the state. Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education, Veena Pandita, Director Colleges, Prof. Zahoor Ahmed Chatt, Dean Academic Affairs, Kashmir University, Representative of Dean Academic Affairs Jammu University, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo, Director School Education, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal, besides senior functionaries of the concerned department attended the meeting.(KNO)
